Rafflesia is a family of parasitic blooming plants. It contains around 28 species (counting four not entirely portrayed species as perceived by Willem Meijer in 1997), all found in Southeast Asia, for the most part in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. It was first found by Louis Deschamps in Java in the vicinity of 1791 and 1794, however his notes and outlines, seized by the British in 1803, were not accessible to western science until 1861. It was later found in the Indonesian rainforest in Bengkulu, Sumatra by an Indonesian guide working for Joseph Arnold in 1818, and named after Sir Stamford Raffles, the pioneer of the undertaking.

DESCRIPTION:

The plant has no stems, leaves or genuine roots. It is a holoparasite of vines in the sort Tetrastigma (Vitaceae), spreading its absorptive organ, the haustorium, inside the tissue of the vine. The main piece of the plant that can be seen outside the host vine is the five-petalled blossom. In a few animal groups, for example, Rafflesia arnoldii, the bloom might be more than 100 centimeters (39 in) in breadth, and weigh up to 10 kilograms (22 lb). Indeed, even one of the littlest animal categories, R. baletei, has 12 cm distance across blossoms

The blooms look and resemble spoiling substance, thus its neighborhood names which mean "carcass blossom" or "meat bloom" (see underneath). The foul scent draws in creepy crawlies, for example, flies, which transport dust from male to female blossoms. Most species have isolate male and female blossoms, yet a couple have bisexual blooms. Rafflesia is the official state blossom of Indonesia, where it is known as puspa langka (uncommon bloom) or padma paksasa (goliath bloom), of Sabah state in Malaysia, and of Surat Thani Province in Thailand. In Thailand, Rafflesia can be seen in Khao Sok National Park where the blooms are numbered and checked by the recreation center officers.

Rafflesia are additionally striking for demonstrating an expansive level exchange of qualities from their host plants. This is outstanding among microscopic organisms, yet not higher living beings.
